Israel: From Oct 13th

I am the laziest blogger. There’s just not a lot I feel like saying, yet. So, here’s an excerpt from emails written to Jessica and Ali on Oct 13th, when I had just arrived in Tel Aviv.

Jessica,

We’re tearing around drunk and happy and sunburnt. Day two I was
silly-drunk and diving in four foot waves at 7am. The water is almost
grossly warm. We were alone on the beach except for a surfer, then I
turned around and saw the lifeguard waving a big red flag at us. He
was just telling us there was high surf–well yeah!–and said something
flirty in Hebrew as we left. I think we had a beer at Michael’s local
bar at like, 9am and then went to bed.

Ali,

We’re in Tel Aviv, having a good time. It’s a weird city though, totally European but they borrowed from all the major European cultures and added in some American, so it’s really a soul-less place. We could be anywhere, except, like, nowhere. Hard to describe. It’s priced at about the same as the US, too, but everything feels like a knock off. To get a real sense of the country we’re heading to Jerusalem soon and may rent a car and drive around to Jordan or Egypt!
