Ok, here it is. It’s not quite done yet because I couldn’t handle even a little bit more after 1.5hrs. It’s a lot of color! People keep asking me if it’s marker, and I’m flattered, actually. The colors are pop-pop bright, but the red didn’t take well and on the top of my arm, where the circles meet, needs some more work.
My favorite part? You can see freckles through the yellow. And in a few years, if I want to, I can add more rings, or add patterns within the existing rings. Herringbone on the yellow! Polka dots on the blue!
My friend Patrique asked what it all means, if you’re interested, it’s below.
If you and I had a conversation about the meaning of my tattoo, this is what it would go like, so you can just pretend.
me: red is body
green is life and growth
black is ink
Patrick: body, like taking cae of your body?
me: yellow is awareness
body like, a reminder of how we are made of flesh and blood
Patrick: yes we are
me: like, blood red for a reminder of the physical world, not like, do yoga Carissa
although, maybe that too
Patrick: k
me: Light blue is for the sky, and a kind of imagination. Dark blue is for the sea, an inverse of sky, another kind of imagination. The dark blue has to be redone.
Purple…that I’m not really sure of, actually. I thought it would be the last color, but now I think it needs another.
They can change, too, I’m not set on one meaning or another. I’m expecting to identify the colors with different things, over time
Patrick: cool!
you should post all this too
me: I think the purple won’t heal because it doesn’t have meaning
ha

Um… i don’t know how… to break this to you C… but.. the purple…. it means you’re gay.
You’re never getting your movies back now, Abe.
