Filmed in Australia by Spike Jonze, with a script by Dave Eggers, Jim Henson Creature Shop costumes, and a trailer featuring The Arcade Fire…what’s a hipster not to love? Too bad we have to wait until October 16th, but you better believe I’ll be first in line.
According to the LA Times (they link out to some good stuff), the movie was pulled and got a makeover after kids left the theater in tears. It’s a creepy story, no question.
A leaked test video is embedded below, but it’s not worth watching. Jonze responded to the leak saying that it was a very, very early test, that the actor kid is not the actual actor but the kid from a Yeah Yeah Yeah’s video (hipster cred still rising), and, tspecial effects aren’t worked out, and–most noticeably for those of us who grew up with the book–kiddo is wearing a rabbit suit, not a wolf suit.
